On Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. in room 173 of Nott Hall, the UAEC will be holding a screening of a live webcast of Al Gore endorsing Power Vote, an organization that seeks to educate voters about environmental issues within politics. For more information, see www.powervote.org.

Critical Mass Tuscaloosa, which seeks to raise awareness of bicycling as a form of transportation, will be hosting a group bike ride that will begin at Denny Chimes on The University of Alabama's quad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Bring a bicycle decked out with lights and wear a costume.
WILD & SCENIC ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL – NOV. 6
Alabama Rivers Alliance and the Alabama Environmental Council will be hosting a Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival featuring the film Oil and Water at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Get information and tickets at www.alabamarivers.org/wild.
GLASS RECYCLING POSTPONED UNTIL NOV. 7 – DRIVERS NEEDED
The monthly glass recycling drive has been pushed back to Friday, Nov. 7 due to lack of volunteers to drive the collected glass to a facility in Birmingham. If you can take a load of glass to Birmingham on Nov. 7, E-mail UAEC Glass Recycling Coordinator Mika Carpenter at mikacarpenter@aol.com.
CAMPING TRIP – NOV. 8 - 9
UAEC members (even you who just read our E-mails) are invited to be part of the annual New College retreat, which entails a weekend of camping and sailing at Lake Tuscaloosa. The trip will take place Nov. 8-9. Bring camping gear or rent from University of Alabama Outdoor Recreation. Cost: $10. The Community Service Center will no longer be planning a trip to Costa Rica over Winter Break. Instead, CSC is planning a trip to Canada during the summer of 2009.
